Doula services provided

The services offered by us as doulas will vary according to the needs of the mother (or couple). We offer an antenatal/birth Doula service and are happy to discuss the provision of a postnatal Doula service with the families whose births we support, (should they identify the need for such a service in the early weeks following the baby’s birth).

The Ante-Natal and Birth Doula package

(This is a typlical package, we will tailor our services to meet your individual needs. Please contact us to talk through the services we offer and for prices)

  • We will adapt our role to fit in with your needs and wishes, and we recognise that every birth is unique and therefore so is every woman’s experience of birth.
  • Although we work as a team, one of us will be your lead doula and the other as a backup in case of unforeseen events!

Before Childbirth

  • As your doula I will meet you at least twice antenatally and am always available to contact via phone or email.
  • Our first meeting is about getting to know each other and establishing what it is you would like from me and starting to identify what it is you would like for your labour, birth and early postnatal days.
  • I will be on call for you from 37 weeks of your pregnancy and for up to two weeks following your due date, in the event that your baby arrives later than this date.

During Labour

  • I can help and make suggestions on breathing, relaxation, movement and positioning.
  • My most important role is to provide reassurance, nurturing and continuous support, helping you to focus on yourself.
  •  I will stay with you and your partner throughout the labour and birth, except in some medical situations, when I may not be able to be with you but will still be able to offer support.
  • I will stay with you until you are comfortable and everything is well.
  • I can help and support you with breastfeeding if that is your chosen method of feeding.

After Childbirth

  • I am always available to contact by email or phone after the birth and will follow up with a postnatal visit (approximately two hours long).
  • This visit will give us the opportunity to discuss how your labour and birth went and help you settle at home with your baby (or babies).  Some parents may want to go out for a short time to spend some time together whilst I look after the baby.
  • We are happy to discuss the provision of a postnatal Doula service with the families whose births we support, (should they identify the need for such a service in the early weeks following the baby’s birth).
